Knowledge of who wrote what is not neccessary. Need to be able to read passages and understand meaning. Recognize literary devices such as alliteration. Mostly reading comprehension on steroids.

This exam tests the candidate’s knowledge of literary works, including fiction and poetry written in the United States. There is an optional essay section can be taken in addition to the multiple-choice test. Yeilds 3-6 Credits. The CLEP English Composition multiple choice exam contains approximately 90 questions with a 90 minute time limit.
